SharePoint Hybrid: Understanding how to plan and implement O365 Hybrid - 10:35AM Room S277
This session will help you create a clear and accurate Office 365 Hybrid roadmap. There is no question that most organizations will be hybrid. But how do I build a technical roadmap for success? Where do I start? Some of you will be hybrid for the purpose of a phased migration, some will be permanent hybrid. I’ll help you make the important strategic decisions along with the technical points you must know. We’ll discuss SPO and how to configure a hybrid Office 365 environment with your on-premises SharePoint Server. You’ll be introduced to the challenges of hybrid, relevant requirements, and design points needed for a successful hybrid project, logical architecture design (to include hybrid search and e-Discovery), DNS, security, and Identity Management.
Jamye Few will present the following session:
Migratory Patterns of Term Sets - The Journey of a Thousand Words - 9:25AM Room S274
The taxonomy trials of SharePoint are numerous. While terms are a great tool within SharePoint for cohesive metadata and powerful search solutions, the more you have and the more you use them, the more important they become. Importance yields a critical need to maintain term sets across various environments for testing purposes and for farm migration. This 200 level presentation will cover some of the more technical aspects of managing term sets and show one method of migrating them between environments using PowerShell which can replace some of the functionality of costly, 3rd party products.
