Programmer Analyst

Description/Required Skills: 

This position will work on site as a Programmer Analyst for the Finance Department, State of Alabama located in Montgomery, Alabama. This position is a temporary position that has the potential to convert into a State Employee at the end of the contract.

 This position will take direction from the SBS IT Manager and SBS GHRS Supervisor. The programmer analyst will be trained to maintain and support the GHRS (payroll/personnel) system. This position will be responsible for assisting with on-going GHRS programming and reporting requests as well as the upcoming conversion to a new web-based HR system. Technical Environment: The current technical environment is IBM mainframe using COBOL and a VSAM file structure. We also use ROSCOE, TSO, File-Aid, and Easytrieve Plus.

Required Skills:

  1. Mainframe Cobol Programming – 3+ years coding experience within work environment
  2. JCL - 3+ years coding experience within work environment
  3. Roscoe / TSO - 3+ years work experience
  4. NET
  5. Core 2.0

Desired Skills:

  1. Collaborate in gathering and documenting change requirements from end users and management.
  2. Translate high-level conceptual ideas into technical requirements.
  3. Develop, test, and deploy new programs or program changes.
  4. Good communication skills – 3 years or more

Education:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information technology

Required Qualifications/Experience:

  1. Mainframe Cobol Programming – 3+ years coding experience within work environment
  2. JCL - 3+ years coding experience within work environment
  3. Roscoe / TSO - 3+ years work experience

Special Requirements/Additional Information: 

Candidate must be able to:

  1. Provide two (2) completed reference checks and/or the name and number/email of the reference (will only check refs on candidates that are interviewed)
  2. Must include name of college/university/school, etc. the candidate attended as well as the graduation date on the resume
  3. Ensure accuracy of name (no nicknames)
    1. Name must match social/ID/BC/passport
    2. Name must match name on resume and Right to Represent Form
    3. Salary begins at $55,300 once conversion happens (may be higher).  Full State of Alabama benefits eligible at time of conversion.
