Responsibilities:
This position will work on site with the Department of Corrections for the State of Alabama located in Montgomery, Alabama. The candidate will be responsible for overall coordination, status reporting and stability of project oriented work efforts for IT software projects. They will establish and implement project management processes and methodologies for the IT community to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high quality standards and meet customer expectations. Candidate will be responsible for defining project objectives, assembling project plans and teamwork assignments, directing and monitoring work efforts daily, identifying resource needs, coordinating quality review with the Quality Control team; and escalating functional, quality, timeline issues appropriately. They are also responsible for tracking key project milestones and adjusting project plans and/or resources to meet the needs of customers. Candidate will coordinate communication within all areas of the enterprise that impacts the scope, budget, risk and resources of the work effort being managed and will assist non-IT Program Manager(s) in partnering with senior management of the business community to identify and prioritize opportunities for utilizing IT to achieve the goals of the enterprise. Assistance will be provided to the Project Portfolio Manager in defining and developing a successful and repeatable project management philosophy that can be used as the foundations for an expanding project management process for the PMO. The candidate must possess extensive knowledge and expertise in the use of project management methodologies and tools, resource management practices and change management techniques and the must be able to manage one or more cross-functional projects of medium to high complexity.
